Dr. Poon brings a unique mix of fun, focus, and family values to the Innovative Orthodontics team. Originally from Texas, he started his professional journey as an elementary school P.E. teacher before discovering his passion for dentistry. His path from the gym to the clinic gives him a one-of-a-kind perspective that helps patients feel cared for, confident, and comfortable.

Outside the office, Dr. Poon is a devoted husband to his wife Pauline and a proud dad to three energetic kids. When he’s not crafting beautiful smiles, you’ll likely find him chasing little feet around the house, searching for missing socks, or planning his family’s next big travel adventure. He’s already been to 42 countries and counting! He’s also a big fan of basketball, golf, and making everyday moments feel special.

With a deep love for people and a commitment to excellence, Dr. Poon is excited to help each patient feel confident and cared for throughout their smile journey.

Dr. Poon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development & Family Sciences, and a minor in Business from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his dental training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he graduated with highest honors and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society.

He then completed a two-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at the San Antonio VA before moving to the East Coast to pursue a dual specialty in Orthodontics and Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, he served as Chief Resident and received the J. Fiorellini Director’s Award in recognition of his leadership and clinical excellence.

Dr. Poon remains committed to lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. As one of the few providers in the country with this level of specialty training, he brings an advanced, comprehensive approach to orthodontics, ensuring every patient receives truly personalized treatment.
